With campus co-operatives, universities could model new ways of living after COVID-19

Michelle Stack, Associate Professor at the Department of Educational Studies, University of British Columbia, suggests that there is evidence that when cooperatives are incorporated in university campuses and higher education's institutions, these fare better than other organisational structures in maintaining employment and contributing to increased housing and food security for students and staff alike. Stack considers examples from Spain and Canada, maintaining that cooperatives should play even a bigger role in post-covid communal, democratic living in universities across the globe.
